Michael and I saw the cardiologist today. His heart is still slightly enlarged, but the pressure in the chamber that goes from the heart to his lungs has increased. So, the target date for Michael’s 2nd open-heart surgery is May 5th. The cardiologist actually wanted the surgery a week or two sooner, but he is waiting for Michael to finish his finals.

Michael’s heart is functioning perfectly but due to the fact that his valve is leaking, it is causing his heart to work “overtime,” thus, increasing the pressure in the one chamber. The doctors are still focusing on repairing the valve as opposed to replacing it, BUT, that decision will need to be made once the surgeon has had a chance to assess the condition of Michael’s valve tissue. We hope and pray that the best possible outcome will result from all this waiting.

Sherrill and I feel that Michael is in the hands of some of the most capable doctors, and we are confident that God will guide these doctors into making the best possible decisions for our son. Thank you to all for your continued prayers. Michael is so blessed to be surrounded by so many people who are praying for him.
